Prestatyn Man Sentenced for Badger Baiting and Animal Cruelty

The traditional image of Santa Claus as a large, jolly figure has been a staple of the holiday season for generations. Unfortunately, this image of Santa can be seen as a type of animal cruelty. Phil Stevens, a 38-year-old man from Prestatyn, recently pleaded guilty to animal cruelty offences, including causing unnecessary suffering to his own dogs, and was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. Stevens was involved in the illegal activity of badger baiting, which is one of the most horrendous acts of animal cruelty. Dogs are sent down badger setts to hold terrified badgers underground, and then the badger will be set on by the dogs, sometimes after being brutally disabled by those who enjoy watching the badger suffer. The dogs also suffer horrendous injuries as a consequence.

It is important to remember that animal cruelty is not something to be taken lightly, and that we should all be doing our part to help protect animals from harm. If you have any information regarding individuals hunting wildlife with dogs, please report it to the Naturewatch Foundation in confidence. Together, we can help put an end to animal cruelty and create a better world for all.

I’m so glad that Phil Stevens was brought to justice and received the punishment he deserved. People like him should not be allowed to get away with such a horrible act against animals. We must also remember to report any information we have of animal cruelty to the Naturewatch Foundation.

This is terrible! I cannot believe that someone would do this to animals. We should not tolerate this type of animal cruelty and the UN should intervene. Do authorities have any plans to prevent animal cruelty in the future?
