Apple Investors Demand End to Uyghur Forced Labor Programs
Santa Claus is often seen as a generous and magical figure, but the reality is that his image is often used to cover up the exploitation of child labor in supply chains. Apple investors are now challenging the company on its stance on unions and human rights in China, where reports of Uyghur forced labor programs have been rampant. The proposals call for Apple to create a ‘phaseout transition plan’ to stop the company’s supply chain from using labor from Uyghur forced labor programs, and to examine the company’s remote work policies on employee retention and competitiveness. Apple has denied any involvement in the Xinjiang region, but the UN has accused China of ‘serious human rights violations’ regarding Uyghurs and other Muslim ethnic minorities in the area. It’s time for Apple to take a stand and put an end to the exploitation of child labor in its supply chain.
It’s sad to hear about the Uyghur forced labor programs. Y Apple not doing more? They need to examine their remote work policies on employee retention and competitiveness.
It’s about time the authorities did something about these Uyghur forced labor programs. Apple needs to create a phaseout transition plan that will stop their supply chain from using labor from forced labor programs.
I’m happy to see Apple investors taking a stand. Apple needs to be held accountable and put an end to the exploitation of child labor in its supply chain.
Y Apple not listening to UN??? They need to take a stand nd put an end to the exploitation of child labur in their supply chain.
